BARRIER® is a fully modular containment system for constrained environments, built from reusable, easily decontaminated stainless-steel units. Designed for rapid and safe installation, the system has been deployed on UK nuclear-licensed sites for decommissioning, decontamination and laser-based operations.
Standard modules are sized for single-person lifting and can be assembled employing basic hand tools. Multiple module dimensions are available, enabling clients to specify precise structures without the need for bespoke tooling. Custom-sized or feature modules can be designed and manufactured on demand.
The structural integrity of BARRIER® enables the creation of a self-supporting roof span of up to 7 metres employing standard modules alone. Where larger spans are required, lightweight supplementary elements can be added. Built to EN1090, assembled structures are produced with a stack tolerance of ±5 mm.
Use cases extend beyond nuclear decommissioning to include sludge-removal containment, laser-ablation cells, temporary cleanable workspaces and applications in other high-hazard industries. Designed as a temporary structure that endures for decades, BARRIER® combines fast assembly and disassembly with a cost point typically one-third lower than leading competitors.
Containment systems frequently suffer from complexity, difficult installation, limited robustness and challenging decontamination. BARRIER® resolves these shortcomings through a standardised, laser-safe architecture that is lightweight, durable and straightforward to deploy or modify. Vertically integrated manufacturing, combined with Barrnon’s multidisciplinary engineering capability, enables rapid customisation to meet specific environmental and operational requirements.
If your facility requires a temporary, cleanable containment solution, Barrnon can deliver a specialised system tailored to your needs.
